Take home a piece of 'SONGS FOR A ROOM' — Gerry Wedd's most ambitious work to date, featuring more than 1200 handmade tiles and objects in a dizzyingly opulent installation, where song writing, Delft tile painting, popular culture and art history collide with current socio-political issues.
Each handmade tile is approximately 140mm w x 140mm h, and features a range of imagery and text from the mind of Gerry Wedd and his lyrical inspirations.
Following your purchase, we will chose a tile for you from the vast selection in a random manner. If you have a broad thematic request (for example animals, sayings/text, domestic objects, people), we will try to accommodate; however, we cannot make any guarantees. If you have a specific request for a particular tile or set of tiles that you have seen, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to enquire about availability.
As part of Wedd’s commentary on the commodification of art and culture in a time when people continue to live below the poverty line, each tile in this speculative shelter is available to purchase, with 50% of proceeds donated to Adelaide Day Centre for Homeless Persons.
Tiles will be available for pick up on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 September, or posted via Australia Post.
